FUCKED UP SHIT

These are some videos that I've watched recently that have disgusted me.....even though I can't stop watching, and I like the music.

SOLANGE does DIRTY PROJECTORS

Everyone knows big sister Beyonce, but Solange is doing her own thing, by covering the Dirty Projectors' Stillness is the Move. I absolutely hated this song at first, but it's grown on me so much, and I can never get enough of it, it's so damn catchy, even if it is weird as hell. Just give it a couple listens, you'll see what I mean. Anyways, Solange adds her own little Knowles flair to it, with some R&B vibe. Not something you'd expect from a superstar.........s little sister. ha!

HELP I'M ALIVE

One of the best tracks off of Fantasies, and one of the better Metric remixes to date. To be honest, I think this is one of the best since MSTRKRFT's mix of Monster Hospital back in 2006. Shit that makes me feel old. Speaking of which, the piano part reminds me of MSTRKRFT's Heartbreaker with John Legend. Anyone else hear it? BEATING LIKE A HAMMER!

P.s. the picture is from Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton's video for Our Hell. While you're at it, stop downloading music for free from shitty blogs like this, and go out and buy her album. Definitely one of my favourite album purchases, and with a title like Knives Don't Have Your Back...how can you resist?

THEOPHILUS LONDON

I can't really pronounce his name either. But he's an NYC based electronic/hip hopper who's been on the scene for a while, and I'm really loving this track right meow. The intro kinda sounds like Empire of the Sun's Walking on a Dream. It's not heavy shit like Three 6 Mafia, but it's definitely an electro track with some funk in it.

KOL x LYKKE LI

This is pretty old, but after spending the weekend in Toronto, MLG reminded me how much I love the Kings of Leon. And Lykke Li? What a doll. If you haven't heard of her, she's a Swedish indie singer, and does awesome shit like THIS. She's definitely one of my biggest celebrity crushes of the year. Anyways, listen to this song, it was on nonstop repeat for me last year right about the time when Sex on Fire and Use Somebody were destroying the radiowaves nationwide, I hope y'all dig it as much as I did. This song took a chill pill, for sure.

MACKLEMORE x RYAN LEWIS

MC Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis are coming out with an album called "VS." in late November that's going to be donation-based release. I'm so unbelievably stoked for this album, because they sample tracks like Red Hot Chili Peppers (like the track here), Beirut, The Killers, and The Arcade Fire. You psyched yet? I sure am.

“Otherside” (the first leak from the project) mashes big drums and orchestral pieces over Anthony Kiedis’ classic song about battling with heroin addiction. Macklemore now tells the story of Hip-Hop’s experience with drugs and a first person narrative about his own struggles with drug addiction and rehabilitation.

I FUCKING LOVE IT.
