LAST POST OF 2009...

Now that your teenage panties got all giddy from the Twilight poster....did you know it's going to be a blue moon tonight? So 2009 came with it's ups and downs, such as the closure of my first blog, but then LR rose from the ashes. Speaking of blogs, check out Marley's blog for some good reads and celeb gossip. she knows her shit. Anyways, I'll keep this one short since you're all probably getting ready for an big night out on the town. I promised this track to Asha, but I never got around to it....and it's pretty fitting, since the original is definitely one of my favourite tracks of 2009. So a remix of that song is pretty funky fresh, yeah?

happy new year, gang

p.s. i'll list some of my favourite albums/songs of 2009 in 2010, don't worry.

OH HOT DAMN...

THIS is my jam.
I might as well start to wrap up 2009 with that dead-mau-five that everyone's been talking about....One of the biggest tracks of '09, I don't think I need to say much more. Everyone's heard it, but it's time to relive one of the most popular tracks of the year.

DANCE DANCE DANCE

Happy holidays y'all!
This is a track that'll make you shake your tailfeathers all break. I've always had quite the crush on Lykke Li, but this remix is pretty gold.
I'm digging it, and you should too.

Merry (insert whichever holiday you celebrate)!

COMME CI COMME CA

Ahhhh yes...a throwback to my life-fulfilling French classes, where I really only remember words like grenouille, vache, and ananas. Avoir/etre? Forget it. But I suppose since this blog's name is french, I should honour that occasionally.
Anyways, this is a track by Terry Poison, a band originally from Israel, but reside in Paris and Oslo. It doesn't really matter, but you'll like it, I promise.

P.S. can you believe John Frusciante left RHCP?
P.P.S. can you believe Brittany Murphy is dead?

Download: Terry Poison - Comme Ci Comme Ca (The Twelves Version II Remix)

JF ≠ RHCP

I'm still pretty cheesed that John Frusciante left the Red Hot Chili Peppers over a year ago, but it became official last week. I'll definitely miss his invisible skateboarding videos.

TIMBALAND x DRAKE

Seriously, Timbaland changed the rap-game with his signature "ayyyy", and 2009's golden boy, Drake, come together for a song that I didn't really dig off of Shock Value II. But JEY, of Souldiggaz, redid this song into a masterpiece. Big beats, and some better instrumentals make this song great.

EXPIALIDOCIOUS

This is some seriously unreal stuff. Pogo, a kid from Perth, Australia, microsamples tracks and constructs them into some trippy tracks. Like this, he only samples the one and only Mary Poppins, and he does it well. Check out the video, and download the track, you'll be blown away.

P.s. fuck exams.

MACKLEMORE PT. II + III

My mind has been blown. This is some of the most unreal stuff I've ever heard. Everything about it. The sampling, the beats, the lyrics, ERRRRRYTHING!! Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are putting together some seriously amazing shit. I haven't been this psyched on new music in a lonnnnggg time. Well done, gents.

Irish Celebration samples Beirut's Scenic World , and has some serious Irish roots, and some pretty badass lyrics. Let's just say Macklemore drops some lines like "a rebellious nation of freckle-faced hustlers". That's just fucking awesome.

Then Crew Cuts samples The Bravery's Believe , and that guitar riff is pretty good as it is. With Xperience lending his hand with this track, how can you not listen to it?

DON'T JUST DOWNLOAD ONE, YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO BOTH. Enjoy the new album art too.

SHUT UP AND DOWNLOAD THIS.

Not going to lie, this song has been on repeat for the past week, but I haven't shared it with y'all yet. I know, I'm a selfish ass. But hopefully I made up for it with my awesome Microsoft Paint skills. I know you're impressed. I also know you're going to Google Leighton Meester's sextape. Perverts. But this track is by B.o.B aka Bobby Ray, from Atlanta, and this song is ridiculously catchy. 'nuff said.

p.s. as a special treat, I didn't use the ever-popular B-Spears album art. You're welcome.

STEVE AOKI

This guy is my fucking idol (you probably knew that already), but he's been hard at work, currently on his Over the Hill tour, he spins every night, but still manages to remix tracks, design clothes, run his label, and just be awesome. Now that I've finished e-sucking his dick, check these two new tracks he did. Kid Cudi? Drake? Those two guys are 20% of my Top 10 Black Dudes list (which also includes Tiger Woods as of lately, and Morgan Freeman)
P.s. did you know the new Kid Cudi video for Pursuit of Happiness is going to be produced by teen-fem-heartthrob, Josh Hartnett? Hot damn.

T-SWIFT

For any guy out there, that's Taylor Swift and her prom date. That totally makes you think you have a shot at dating her, doesn't it? That's a fucking slick 'do.
Anyways, here's a cool video of an instrumental cover by two dudes who live in their moms basement and jam out quietly before their dads want to watch the football game so they have to be quiet.

FUCKED UP SHIT

These are some videos that I've watched recently that have disgusted me.....even though I can't stop watching, and I like the music.

SOLANGE does DIRTY PROJECTORS

Everyone knows big sister Beyonce, but Solange is doing her own thing, by covering the Dirty Projectors' Stillness is the Move. I absolutely hated this song at first, but it's grown on me so much, and I can never get enough of it, it's so damn catchy, even if it is weird as hell. Just give it a couple listens, you'll see what I mean. Anyways, Solange adds her own little Knowles flair to it, with some R&B vibe. Not something you'd expect from a superstar.........s little sister. ha!

HELP I'M ALIVE

One of the best tracks off of Fantasies, and one of the better Metric remixes to date. To be honest, I think this is one of the best since MSTRKRFT's mix of Monster Hospital back in 2006. Shit that makes me feel old. Speaking of which, the piano part reminds me of MSTRKRFT's Heartbreaker with John Legend. Anyone else hear it? BEATING LIKE A HAMMER!

P.s. the picture is from Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton's video for Our Hell. While you're at it, stop downloading music for free from shitty blogs like this, and go out and buy her album. Definitely one of my favourite album purchases, and with a title like Knives Don't Have Your Back...how can you resist?

Download: Metric - Help I'm Alive (80kidz Remix)

THEOPHILUS LONDON

I can't really pronounce his name either. But he's an NYC based electronic/hip hopper who's been on the scene for a while, and I'm really loving this track right meow. The intro kinda sounds like Empire of the Sun's Walking on a Dream. It's not heavy shit like Three 6 Mafia, but it's definitely an electro track with some funk in it.

Download: Theophilus London - Humdrum Town

KOL x LYKKE LI

This is pretty old, but after spending the weekend in Toronto, MLG reminded me how much I love the Kings of Leon. And Lykke Li? What a doll. If you haven't heard of her, she's a Swedish indie singer, and does awesome shit like THIS. She's definitely one of my biggest celebrity crushes of the year. Anyways, listen to this song, it was on nonstop repeat for me last year right about the time when Sex on Fire and Use Somebody were destroying the radiowaves nationwide, I hope y'all dig it as much as I did. This song took a chill pill, for sure.

MACKLEMORE x RYAN LEWIS

MC Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis are coming out with an album called "VS." in late November that's going to be donation-based release. I'm so unbelievably stoked for this album, because they sample tracks like Red Hot Chili Peppers (like the track here), Beirut, The Killers, and The Arcade Fire. You psyched yet? I sure am.

“Otherside” (the first leak from the project) mashes big drums and orchestral pieces over Anthony Kiedis’ classic song about battling with heroin addiction. Macklemore now tells the story of Hip-Hop’s experience with drugs and a first person narrative about his own struggles with drug addiction and rehabilitation.

I FUCKING LOVE IT.

KANYE'S DEAD?!? BRITNEY'S COOCH?!?

For the record..........Kanye isn't dead. I don't know why everyone believes everything they read on the internet. Like if I said that I had 17 inch sausage, you wouldn't believe me......(racist assholes). So even though that dude that you met at a party 2 years ago updates his facebook status with "_____ is dead!!!", that doesn't mean it's true.

BUT BELIEVE THIS..............this track is good.
Kanye West. Britney Spears. Both alive. Both had/have similar buzzcuts. But only one has their genitals on the internet (which was such a letdown).

MAJOR LAZER

I will bet you my left testicle that this shit is going to blow up on the scene if it hasn't already. Major Lazer (aka Diplo and Switch) have been ripping it up for the past few months, so enjoy my cornucopia of musical delights. Happy Thanksgive'r!

If you know me, then you know I love Steve Aoki. Anyways, new video for his single "I'm in the House" with Zuper Blahq, which I'm 99% sure is will.i.am
Kids who like tripping on acid will probably recognize some of this effed up video

Kid Cudi x David Guetta

As you can tell, I dig both of these guys, especially since they've both made appearances on this blog before. But so have the Black Eyed Peas, so that's not saying much.

Another catchy tune by David Guetta, aka DJ of miss universe or some shit that was on tv the other night. Expect to hear this shit to hit the fan soon.

FIVE-OH SAID FREEZE!

BAD NEWS.....I got some nasty Cease & Desist emails from the file sharing site, I guess copyright laws aren't just for pussies. But this is where I say "fuck da police" and give them the finger.

Sorry to the 4 loyal readers (stay true mom), I couldn't really blog from a ghetto ass computer in a hostel in Costa Rica, so this is where I get back on track. Don't worry, I've been a demon for the past few days compiling tracks, so I've got some tricks up my sleeve for you tricks.

This track is a mix for everyone. Everyone loves trip out on e or acid to Tiesto, and all the lesbian twins out there love Tegan and Sara. So why wouldn't you like both?

M-I-A-M-I

Hey gang,

I'm currently in the land of fake titties, frosted tips, and thong underpants. Apparently there's a shortage of medium and large sized shirts, because every guy here wears size S shirts. I'm stuck with listening to the same 8 songs on every single radio station in the 305. Everyone loves Pitbull, Keri Hilson, and whatever else Ryan Seacrest plays for them.

So I'm following suit by posting up a song that I could totally imagine a straight up douchebag listening to in his 3-series with limo-tinted windows. What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW? A porcupine has its pricks on the outisde! haaaaaa!

D-bag David Caruso FTW!

FUCK GIRL TALK AND E-603

i know i said e-603 was the shit..........but scratch that. he's good, but he's not as cool as SUPER MASH BROS. not the most original name, but they put together some cool-like-fiyah tracks. so download the entire album for free! they have more tracks that you'll recognize, so it's bound to be a good time.

p.s. i'm outta here to miami and costa rica for a few weeks, so who knows when you'll hear from me next. maybe i'll have swine flu. anyways, DIG THIS SHIT!!!

SUMMER FIYAH

Okay so Edmonton is really heating up these days, and sweating has become my number one activity. So in honour of this heat wave, may I present to you one of the better mashups in recent memory.............David Guetta x Estelle. It's Guetta's Love Is Gone, until that part where it goes brap-brap-braaaaaaaaaaap-brap-brap, which is when Estelle (#1 champion) is about to get down.

So dig it.

DO THE HELEN KELLER AND TALK WITH YOUR HIPS

I know, I kinda disappeared for a while. I'm sorry Ms Jackson....I am for real...I apologize a trillion times.

ANYWAYS,
You know those kids who made that semi-offensive track about Helen Keller from the 303 area code? And maybe you know that guy named Kid Cudi? What if I told you they were mixed into one track? You'd probably drop a tiny turd.

So I won't say much more, cause I know you broke kids are only reading this for the download. I promise to be a better blogger since I have internet again.

STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON...acoustic?

So when you hear that phrase, you think NWA. And what's NWA? Badass shit.

But you would NEVER think that this blonde bimbo (pictured) would be dropping hot fiyah like "crazy mothafucka named ice cube, from the gang called n!ggaz wit attitude", in an acoustic, dreamy cover. Like what the fuck?

P.s. I won't drop the n-bomb cause KK will probably kick my ass later.

MIIKE SNOW

I know for you indie-hipsters that are already on the ball, these guys are old news, I know. For the rest of the population, may I present to you..........Miike Snow. I know from the picture, they look kinda freaky...but once you hear their music, you'll realize they're nothing like that. They're just an all-around feel good Swedish bands that's named after Japanese film director Takashi Miike (thank you Wikipedia), that know how to make you groove. And no, they don't sound like that guy who does all the radio ads for Ikea.

Since I've been slacking as of late on this blog, enjoy 3 awesome songs by Miike Snow. Now shut the fuck up J-M V-E D-S. Yeah. I said it.

MSTRKRFT x Lil Wayne x Keri Hilson

I was SUCH a huge MSTRKRFT fan back in the day, but ever since their album, Fist of God, came out.....I'm not feeling them so much. I know they've got that "signature style"....but they need to freshen things up. It's just kinda the same old stuff. But this track isn't too bad, because EVERYONE likes Lil Wayne. Even Gatorade. And the only real reason i listen to this song is to hear him say "I HOPE YOUR VAGINA TIGHT". And isn't that picture making you trip mad ballz?

TONIGHT'S GONNA BE A GOOD GOOD NIGHT

The first band that has been featured twice on Les Rues..............is Black Eyed Peas. What the phunk?
I won't lie, I'm really digging the original of the song. It's just one of those songs that helps you get psyched for your summer evening on the town, y'know? But the Barletta remix is one of the few remixes out there right now, and it's definitely better than the David Guetta remix.

So let's get it started/retarded. MOZELTOFF!

Download: Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling (Barletta Edit)

P.S. Don't worry, MJ tribute coming soon.

N.A.S.A.

N.A.S.A. No, not the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I'm talking North America/South America, the collab between DJ Zegon and Sam Spiegel (Squeak E Clean). You've probably heard of them already with all the hype that surrounds anything related to Kanye. But this track is unreal. It has this creepy gauntlet intro, like the kind you used to hear in video games when you were approaching that castle with that badass boss. Then these vocals kick in, and you're all "what the shit?". BUT THEN.....just wait.....about a minute and a half in, some beats are laid down. But the real stuff that makes my panties wet comes halfway through the song. So just listen to the whole song, and not the first 20 seconds and think its shit. It's unreal. Ever heard one of those songs that you can't help but bob your head to? This is one of those songs. Like a boss.

If you like Girl Talk.....

You'll fucking love E-603.
He does the exact same thing as Girl Talk, and maybe even better. His name is Ethan, and he's from New Hampshire (area code: 603). Thus, E-603. Rumour has it he puts out a better live performance than Girl Talk, which is pretty hard to believe.
His newest album, Torn Up, dropped online on June 19th, and it's up for grabs, FOR FREE. (Well, it's like the Radiohead/Girl Talk "donate what you want" idea.....except E-603 offers some pretty funky shit up for grabs when you donate)
This guy samples all artists from all ends of the spectrum, from Blink-182, to Interpol, to Beyonce, to Modest Mouse, Disturbed, to Passion Pit, to 50 Cent, to M83, to Notorious B.I.G., and to whatever else gets your dick hard. You'll get the hardest wood you've ever had once you listen to some of this. There's something for everyone in this album.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE E-603 - TORN UP ALBUM

Just remember.....you found out about E-603 on Les Rues. Remember that. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be one of the biggest albums of the summer.

PSYCHED

You all know Travis Barker of Blink-182/TRVS x DJAM fame. And probably his remixes of artists like Soulja Boy, Rihanna, Eminem, etc.
You all know Shwayze, the ultimate duo with their own show on MTV, and creators of the ultimate summer track, Buzzin'.

Now check this.
Shwayze's upcoming single, Get U Home, remixed by Travis Barker. This shit is balls to the wall.

DEATH METAL DISCO SCENE

Death Metal Disco Scene.
What the flip does that even mean?
1. They're not death metal.
2. They're not disco.
3. They're definitely not scenester.
So who are they?
A duo out of the UK that are remixing tracks left right and center, but forget all that. Listen to this. The track is called 21, and I'm hooked! It's a catchy, feel-good track. I love the intro where they gradually add more layers to the track along with the lyrics. You'll know what I mean when you hear it.
This isn't a track you'll be grindin' pussay to at the Ranch, sorry. It's a little feminine....but in the cool way, like Metric or Yeah Yeah Yeahs chick/chique-cool.

SUMMER BANGER!

I've been receiving some peer pressure as of late to post up some tracks, so here it is. A big fat summer banger for those long nights of cruising with the boys, and hitting on fat chicks with cameltoes.

By now, everyone AND their mom has heard of Kid Cudi, the sensation of 2007/2008, that radio stations are FINALLY getting a hold of (especially the Crookers remix. seriously 91.7 the bounce, stop playing it. it was cool a year ago). BUT have you heard of Kid Cranberry??? Neither have I, until I heard this track.

Holy balls, listen to this. This is the money, right here. Cameltoe money.

Phoenix - Lisztomania

I'm a pretty big Phoenix fan, and I did a review for their new album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, earlier this year. (Read it HERE)

Anyways, one of their singles is titled Lisztomania, and I think it's pretty self explanatory. But watch these videos that kids with too much time on their hands made. First up is a mashup of Lisztomania and scenes from The Breakfast Club, where they know how to get jiggy wid it. Second is a cover of the first video, but for some reason it's just a feel good video with a good vibe to it.

And don't worry, I'll post some downloads in the next few days, and not just videos, you cheap whores.

Notorious B.I.G. x Dan Black

Notorious B.I.G.? he's big, he's black, and he means serious business.
Dan Black? Your typical Urban Outfitters whore, who listens to whatever they have playing at the store, and wears those damn scarves even when it's warm out. Not to mention those multi-coloured sunglasses that make it look like a rainbow shit on his eyes.

Anyways, Dan Black covered Notorious B.I.G. I'm not saying its the best cover in the entire world, but it's definitely worth a watch/listen.

SIIK

No, I'm not talking like a hockeyboy.
I'm talking about Siik, the guy who made the world's WORST song.......into a good song. Now you might think, "W-T-F mate?". Well STFU and just listen to this shit. For some reason, all the girls seem to love the song, Single Ladies, by Beyonce. I don't know why. I think it's absolute garbage (although I do agree that JT looks smokin' in that unitard). But lo and behold, Siik comes to the rescue, by resurrecting this massacre of a song. Siik also remixes Good Life by Kanye West, but he just makes a great song even better.

So get ready to jizz in your pants when you hear what Siik turned Single Ladies into.
And also, I know lots of you have heard me play these songs a long time ago, but I felt it was time to unleash the beast to the e-world. These are a little more relaxing than most of the other bumpin' remixes....but deal with it.

All the Small Things

Y'all know by now that Blink 182 is coming to Edmonton, and rumour has it that tickets go on sale tomorrow. So in honour of this tremendous occasion, watch this video. This won't have censored titties like the last video, but trust me.......its fucking good.

This is from a BBC show called All the Small Things. I haven't caught much of it, but from this clip, it seems like it's pretty rad. I'm also not quite sure what's going on with the midget/little person/dwarf/whatever is politically correct.

Let's start things off French..

Continuing with my theme du jour, the French are famous for a few things. Baguettes, giant metal structures, love, pencil-staches, and nudity. Oh and lets throw music in there too, since Justice/Daft Punk/Ed Banger are all up there. So what happens when you combine nudity and music together? Make the Girl Dance.

For the gals; this is very 'artsy'.
For the guys; this is very 'hot'.....or shall I say, 'chaud'?

LES RUES

I have returned to the world of blogging, this time, I'll try not to get busted by the RIAA or whatever for distributing free music. You've gotta stick it to the man......so here we are. Les rues. The streets (not to be confused with Mike Skinner, the British whiteboy rapper)

Over the next few days, I'll hopefully drop all my goodness that has been collecting since my last blog died, and let me tell you, I've got some pretty juicy stuff. So keep an eye out. It'll be a potpourri of music, videos, images, whatever makes all you hipsters giddy. I might have some guest contributors too, so who knows what this will be.

LES RUES POUR TOUJOURS
